October is almost here, and the Memphis Zoo has plenty of events for all ages to make it a month to remember! Whether it be a night at Zoo Boo with the entire family or a zoo date with your boo at Zootoberfest, the Memphis Zoo is your perfect fall destination. Here is your official guide to October at the Memphis Zoo!
First up is Art for Elephants on October 1st! Help support elephants in the wild by attending the 11th annual Art for Elephants at Memphis Zoo. Proceeds from this event go to elephant conservation and Elephants for Africa, a charity committed to protecting the endangered African elephant through research and education. Our Art for Elephants event is included with your Zoo Admission. Visit Memphiszoo.org for the day's schedule and auction items.
Next is “Conservation and Cocktails: A Night for African Elephants” on October 8th from 6:30-9:30 PM. Join us for a brand-new event supporting our mission to save wildlife. Spend a fall evening with our herd for a beautiful event complete with live entertainment by BamBam Beats, specialty elephant-themed cocktails, and delicious hors d’oeuvres. The evening will also include an exclusive silent auction, featuring 20 exceptional items, including a brush painting by Asali elephant, that will be painted at the event, a behind-the-scenes experience with Asali, and a Stolpman Winery four-course chef-inspired wine dinner for up to 10 guests at Zambezi. Finally, there will be a special presentation by Dr. Kate Evans, Founder and Director of Elephants for Africa. All funds raised at this event will support the Memphis Zoo’s elephant conservation program. Tickets are $100 for members and $125 for non-members and the attire is semi-formal.
Get ready to experience the upside down this year at Zoo Boo 2022 which will take place on select dates from October 14th-31st. Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls, OH MY. Halloween is taking over Memphis Zoo for its annual haunting at Le Bonheur Zoo Boo. Grab your boo crew, your costumes, and your trick-or-treat bags to make sure you score those hallowed sweets. As Things start to become a little Stranger, you may want to watch your step, or you could end up in The Upside Down. Join us, won’t you? JUST BOO IT! Have you ever dreamed about having breakfast with our primates? Well, now is your chance to dine with all our primate friends at Pancakes for Primates on October 15th from 9-10:30 AM or 10:30-12 PM. Grab a ticket to dine with our primates at 9-10:30 AM or 10:30-12:00 PM. Aside from eating a delicious breakfast and building your own pancakes in Primate Canyon, you can enjoy the Primate Keeper Chat, a Gorilla feeding, and fun Gorilla enrichment. You may also participate in a silent auction benefiting Primate conservation efforts. Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. So, bring your appetite and swing by this one-of-a-kind event!
Hold my beer, it’s time for Zootoberfest 2022 every Saturday and Sunday in October! Zootoberfest will feature some of your favorite local breweries such as WISEACRE Brewing Company, Crosstown Brewing Company, Memphis Made Brewing Co., High Cotton Brewing Company, Ghost River Brewery, Grind City Brewing Co, and Meddlesome Brewing Company. Guests can purchase a commemorative stein to sip beer from while they enjoy a fall afternoon at Memphis Zoo. You must have a stein to participate in Zootoberfest and all steins are available for purchase after you enter the Zoo. This event is free with your general admission, and you must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol.
Finally, do not forget about our Penguin Palooza event on October 8th from 10AM-3PM at the Penguin Rock! Join our Penguins for 7 different game stations, a 3PM Penguin feeding, and multiple ways to win prizes while also learning about the ways we can help save Penguins.
