More than 160 Ripley’s Believe It or Not! (RBION) exhibits, artifacts and oddities are headed to Memphis Zoo beginning Saturday, March 3 and continuing through July 8. Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is a global leader in attractions and its partnership with Memphis Zoo is the first of its kind.
RBION first visited Memphis Zoo in October 2017, to recognize “Tanah,” the Zoo’s 22-year old François langur. When Tanah gave birth last year, she became the oldest of her species to do so. Because of this distinction, the keepers named the baby “Ripley.” To commemorate Tanah and Ripley, RBION dedicated a plaque that is displayed in the CHINA exhibit near the François langur enclosure and brought 10 incredible artifacts for Zoo guests to enjoy. Due to the positive response, Memphis Zoo is bringing RBION back this spring with more than 100 out-of-this-world exhibits to shock and amaze.
Included in the spring collection are life-sized animals made from yarn, chicken wire, oil drums and recycled tires. Memphis is represented with Elvis, barbeque and musical artifacts. There will also be the shrunken head, as well as prehistoric, futuristic and interactive exhibits from Ripley’s nearly 100 years of collecting.
The 2018 Ripley’s Believe It or Not! exhibit is FREE with general admission to Memphis Zoo.
