Memphis Zoo to Install New Playground

Construction has begun for a new playground at the Memphis Zoo. The Cat House Café patio and adjacent play area will be closed during construction as the new playground will replace the previous structure.

Visitors will be able to enjoy an improved play area, featuring five slides, including a colossus slide which has three slides in one. It will also have animal themed tunnels, pathways and bridges to explore. Additional features will include a rock challenge wall, tikes peak and an infinity climber.

“As many of our members know, it was time to replace the previous playground,” said Chuck Brady, Zoo President. “Our crew will be working hard to get the new playground open for our guests to enjoy it this spring.”

The new playground is set to open this spring, and the current play area will be closed until that time.   For more information about the Memphis Zoo, visit, or fan us on Facebook at
