Today, the Memphis Zoo is one of Memphis’ highest attended attractions in Memphis and in 2022 voted as one of the Top 4 Zoos in the country. The Zoo’s conservation programs circle the globe – from cooperative programs in China for giant pandas to local efforts to save the Louisiana pine snake.  Our Team and Volunteers are dedicated to providing an enriching sanctuary for our animals, as well as a friendly and educational experience for our guests.  Together, we are building one of the world’s great zoos.

The non-profit Memphis Zoological Society (MZS) is looking for passionate individuals who are customer-service oriented and dedicated to the Zoo’s mission: To Create Adventures. Save Wildlife.

The Zoo offers a wide range of experiences for every type of individual. Our Team understands the importance of our role in global conservation efforts and contributes fully to our mission. Seasonal, Part-Time, Full-Time, and Internships are currently available.  Some positions also offer flexible scheduling.  We have opportunities in our Facilities Operations, Business Administration, Customer Service (Retail Food Service Special Exhibits), Culinary, Guest Education, Admissions, Research & Conservation, and more!

Qualifications and Application Process

1. Qualifications:

  • friendly individuals with excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to work in a diverse team environment
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening

2. Hiring Process:

  • If you are interested in more than one position, please apply for each job individually. You may also fill out an application for a General Interest pool from which all hiring managers can pull. All applications must be fully complete to be considered for a position.
  • If your qualifications meet our needs, we will contact you for further information and a possible interview. Interviews may be held in-person, online, or over the phone.
  • If hired, you will be expected to pass a background check. Additionally, you will be asked to take a drug screening within three (3) days of acceptance.

3. Application:

  • Most of the postings between February and October are Seasonal opportunities. Seasonal positions are generally required to work most weekends and some holidays. Occasionally, they may be scheduled for evenings with advance notice. Seasonal positions typically last six (6) months or less.
