Baby Francois Langur Born

MEMPHIS, TENN. – The Memphis Zoo is excited to announce the birth of a baby Francois langur.   The baby, a female, was born October 27 and has been named “Raven.”  She resides with her mother, “Tanah”, her father, “JayJay” and her half-sister, “Jean Grey.”  The langurs are on exhibit, when weather allows, in the China exhibit near the Zoo’s two giant pandas.    The Francois langur, an Asian-native monkey, was named after the French Consul in China who... The Budgie House is Open!

The Budgie House, home to the Zoo's flock of budgies, is open for the Summer! It's included with general admission. Feeding sticks are $1. Budgies, also known as parakeets, are native to Australia. Their name is derived from an Australian slang word “budgery,” meaning good. Budgies are psittacines, which means they are seed eaters. They have cone-shaped beaks that allow them to easily eat seeds. Read More

Baby Bonobo Born at the Memphis Zoo

And baby makes three! The Memphis Zoo is pleased to announce the third bonobo baby born at this facility in as many years.    The baby, whose sex is not yet known, was born at 5 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. It is the first child of “Gilda.” The baby’s father is the late “Mofana,” who passed away in 2014. Memphis Zoo Welcomes New Rhinos

MEMPHIS, TENN. – The Memphis Zoo is pleased to announce the addition of a pair of Southern white rhinoceroses.
