Today is National Panda Day!

National Panda Day is a day to celebrate, especially here at the Memphis Zoo where you can see two giant pandas up close and personal – Ya Ya and Le Le. Bear Awareness Week: Meet our Giant Panda Bears

As most everyone knows, our giant pandas are "Ya Ya" and "Le Le." Ya Ya (our female) is 13 and Le Le (our male) is currently 15. They were named before they came to us. Ya Ya's name roughly means Beautiful Girl and Le Le's name means Happy Happy. Memphis Zoo Will Continue to House Giant Pandas

MEMPHIS, TENN. – The Memphis Zoo is excited to announce that the contract with China for housing giant pandas has been extended. Memphis Zoo will have giant pandas for the next 10 years.  This agreement was signed by the Memphis Zoo, Chinese Association of Zoological Gardens and China’s State Forestry Administration.
