HOMESCHOOLERS
Designed especially for homeschool students, homeschool at the Memphis Zoo is an exciting alternative classroom to explore biological topics. Students will meet live animals and participate in innovative activities. Your student will get exposure to the animal world that is impossible to provide at home.

ZOO ACADEMY 2009
This
week long educational program will provide exciting and interactive
ways for students to learn about science. Each class includes animal
visits, tours of exhibits, chats with keepers, special projects,
dissections (3rd -12th Grade) and much more!
*Students bring a non-refrigerated, non-microwavable lunch. An afternoon snack is provided.*
MONDAY - FRIDAY
10 A.M. to 3 P.M.
Cost: (PreK – 8th grade) $100 per member child / $110 per non-member child
(9th -12th grade) $115 per member child / $125 per non-member child

Pre-K/Kindergarten (must be 4 years old by 12/1/08)-
Sense-able Animals (January 12 – 16, or January 19 – 23)
- Ever
wonder how animals see after dark, hear under the water, and feel
without fingers? In this NEW and “tasteful” class we will see how
humans and animals make “sense” of things as they explore their homes.

1st and 2nd Grade- Web of Life (January 12 – 16, or January 19 – 23)
- Predators
or prey, food webs, food chains, and energy pyramids – learn about
these topics and more as we explore how all things are connected in the
great web of life.

3rd , 4th and 5th Grade- Fabulous Fish and their Watery World (January 12 – 16 *FULL, or January 19 – 23)
- Dive
into aquatic environments, the water cycle, ocean conservation and the
wonderful animals that call it home in this fun and exciting class.

6th, 7th, and 8th Grade- Feathers, Beaks and Talons (January 12 – 16 *FULL, or January 19 – 23)
- This
class is an in-depth investigation of our feathered friends. Learn
about bird designs, the physics behind flying, the adaptations that
help them forage for food, and how they live in some of the most barren
and lush environments on our planet.

9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Grades- Marine Biology (January 12 – 16 * FULL)
- Discover
the properties that make salt water different from fresh, how
temperature and weather influence habitats, and how ocean zones and
current support a variety of aquatic animals in this intense study of
marine life.
