Avenue of the Animals - Zoo's Entry

Founded in 1906, the Memphis Zoo is one of Memphis’ most popular institutions.  With more than 3,500 animals representing over 500 species, the Memphis Zoo demonstrates the importance of the preservation of our wildlife through conservation and research. 

At the same time, we provide an entertaining and educational experience for approximately 800,000 guests that visit each year, including 90,000 children in organized school groups. 

The Zoo is a centerpiece of safe family entertainment, environmental education, horticulture and conservation for the entire Mid-South community. It is a significant “quality of life” asset for the city of Memphis.  With the arrival of the giant pandas, Le Le and Ya Ya, the Zoo became a strong regional attraction, bringing tourists from a 500-mile radius and beyond.  The economic impact of this tourism is tens of millions of dollars each year for Memphis and Shelby County.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Zoo Rendezvous The Zoo's largest fundraiser. Over 70 of Memphis' finest restaurants and bars sample their fare while guests enjoy music on three stages. Held annually in September for members only.   $200 per ticket. Zoo Boo The Zoo's biggest family event.  Among the many activities are trick-or-treat stations, costume contests, face painting and fortunetelling. Held over the last two weekends in October.   Advance tickets: $10 Zoo members, $12 nonmembers; at the gate: $12 Zoo members, $15 nonmembers Wild World of Wines The Zoo's largest fundraiser for conservation. Guests enjoy a selection of wines and beer, light hors d'oeuvres are served and  the Zoo hosts a silent auction. Held the first week in April.   Tickets: $50 Zoo members, $60 nonmembers. Zoo Lights A holiday event featuring light displays, Santa and live reindeer, cookie decorating and ornament decorating.  Held select nights from the day after Thanksgiving until December 30.   Tickets: $5 Zoo members, $6 nonmembers Safari Soiree An intimate evening featuring fine cuisine and live music. Lush lawn furniture lines the Zoo's courtyard and elegant table settings are set around the Nile River. Held in mid-May.    $150 per ticket; table reservations also available. Zoom through the Zoo This once popular event made a welcomed return on the Zoo's 100th birthday celebration. Zoom Through the Zoo features a 4 mile race and a 1-mile family fun run. Education Sponsor Thousands of students each year take advantage of the Zoo's education offerings. The Zoo has a full-time staff which develops specialized courses in wildlife and environmental studies for pre-kindergarten through grade 12. Programs include classes for school field trips, Zoo Camp (Summer, Spring Break and Fall Break), Zoo Snoozes and Homeschool Workshops. The Zoo also has an outreach program called Wildlife on Wheels.
