Animal Encounters
$125 (Offered Saturdays and Sundays) Make a date with one of our animal ambassadors for an up-close and personal visit. The Docent Animal Presenters will help you discover interesting and fun facts about your special ambassador during this 30 minute encounter. Some of our animal ambassadors you may visit include an owl, armadillo, reptile, parrot, chinchilla, hedgehog, or even a porcupine.
Animal “Edventures”
$350 (Offered Saturdays only)Come explore the zoo in a unique and fun way! A Zoo educator will lead you through the fun fact finding portion of the “edventure” preparing you for a special animal encounter. From our pre-designed programs below, you will work with one of our educators to customize your encounter. Each program lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours so be prepared for a walking adventure and dress for the weather! Note that many of our programs have limited space, so be sure to work through all the details with your educator.
Pre-designed programs include:
- Water World – sea lions, fishes, anemones, sea urchins and brittle stars
- Flying Lessons – bats and birds
- Going Buggy – Butterflies (seasonal) and other fun bugs
- What Lives in a Herpetarium – amphibians, lizards, tortoises and snakes
- Modern Dinosaurs – dragons, crocs and gators
- The Unhuggables – porcupines, armadillos, anteaters and hedgehogs
- Penguins Rock – penguins
These members-only programs are for small groups of up to 20 people. You may choose from two different types of private encounters with our animal ambassadors. Our Education department will work with you to ensure your encounter is something you will remember for a lifetime.Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Children must be at least four years of age and accompanied by an adult Please understand no children under the age of four years and no strollers will be admitted due to limited space).
Although you will have an up-close and personal experience with our animal ambassadors many are not touchable and we cannot guarantee that you will have an opportunity to touch any animal. Sometimes certain animals may not be available due to various circumstances in which case your educator will work with you to provide the next best opportunity. TO REGISTER
