Zoo Master Plan
Support the Zoo
Tentative Opening Date:
Late 2010
Hippos will get a new home in this exhibit, which features animals found near Africa's Zambezi River.
Zoo guests will enjoy seeing hippos both on land and below water, similar to the type of viewing used in the Northwest Passage exhibit.
Other Hippo Camp residents include Nile Crocodiles, Okapi and Flamingos.
The exhibit is planned to be located adjacent to the Zoo's Primate Pavilion and south entrance to the African Veldt, which is currently the home of the World of Waterfowl and Meadow Amphitheater. To see the current layout of the zoo,

ARTISTS CONCEPTS
The picture to the left is an artist's concept of hippo underwater viewing. This will give guests a view of hippos never seen before at the Zoo.
The next drawing is a concept of "Flamingo Flats." This will be a new home for the Zoo's flamingo flock.
Fundraising for this exhibit is underway. If you'd like to support it or any other Zoo exhibit, please contact our development office at (901) 333-6554.
