Crocodile Cove

Our Nile Crocodiles have moved indoors for the winter and will return to Crocodile Cove in the spring. Please visit our other reptiles in the Herpetarium.

Crocodile Cove (Formerly Denizens of the Deep South) will feature several Nile crocodiles.

Nile Crocodile
Crocodylus suchus

The Nile Crocodile is the second largest of the crocodile species.

Measuring up to 18 feet long, a male Nile crocodile is 30% larger than the female.

Nile crocodiles are fierce predators. Their diets range from smaller mammals such as birds and zebras to young elephants and large cats such as leopards!

Since crocodiles are reptiles, they continually grow throughout their lives. Range: Central and West Africa

*** Nile crocodiles will also be one of the residents of the future exhibit Zambezi River Hippo Camp!***
